2.2 Introduction

3-Hyper is prevalent condition in Chinese population. Huge burden. It needs attention/ Study should be done. Most research focus on doing A to achieve B. limited perspective. A new perspective is warranted.

Mindfulness is a process of focusing one’s attention on the present moment. In recent years, the use of mindfulness techniques to (promote healthy eating habits and maintain body weight) has received great attention [Dogan_1], and the application of these (techniques) to eating is called mindful eating [Dogan_3]

Mindful eating, an application of mindfulness to eating, is conceptualized as (being aware of the present moment when one is eating), (internalizing the concept of physical versus psychological hunger and satiety cues), and recognizing the effect of physical and emotional sensations in response to eating. [Warren, Dogan]

Mindful eating includes developing an awareness of physical hunger and satiety cues, environmental or emotional triggers to eat, and making conscious food choices. [Warren, Miller]

Research findings revealed that Mindful eating may be an effective intervention for / Studies have demonstrated that ME’s effectiveness in treating/managing XX eating / increasing awareness of hunger and satiety cues, improving eating regulation and dietary patterns, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and promoting weight loss.

Mindful awareness towards eating may minimize automatic reactions and impulsive reactions, thereby fostering self-regulation (Winkens 2018 [5,6])
