Chapter 15 GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING MAGIC
The practice of Magic, as described in esoteric tradition, involves the invocation and collaboration with devas, or elemental beings, who are responsible for the creation and structuring of all forms in Nature. These devas operate across the physical, astral, and mental planes, and their activities are guided by higher deva hierarchies and the intentions of Magicians.
- Invocation of Devas:
- Devas are invoked through sounds, words, or mantras, which must align with their vibrational sensitivity. Higher devas respond to pure, harmonious mantras, while lower devas are drawn to rough, selfish invocations.
- The art of invoking devas is taught in the Ashrams of the Hierarchy, where disciples learn to issue precise magical sounds to attract and collaborate with devas for creative and spiritual purposes.
- Devas and Human Bodies:
- Human physical, astral, and mental bodies are composed of molecular energy provided by devas. These energies are drawn from the infinite depths of Space and are organized by the law of magnetic attraction.
- The Agnischaitas (seventh-order devas) construct the etheric and physical bodies of humans, animals, plants, and even inert matter, while higher devas influence mental and astral activities.
- Hierarchy of Devas:
- Devas are organized into hierarchies, with each group governed by a higher deva or Archangel. For example:
- Agnischaitas: Etheric devas responsible for physical forms.
- Agnisuryas: Astral devas governing desires and emotions, under Lord Varuna.
- Agnishvattas: Mental devas energizing thought and will, accessible only to advanced Magicians.
- These hierarchies work in unison, with each deva fulfilling its role in the creation and maintenance of forms.
- Devas are organized into hierarchies, with each group governed by a higher deva or Archangel. For example:
- Elements and Devas:
- Devas are associated with the four elements:
- Earth (Gnomes): Build dense physical forms, including minerals and gemstones.
- Water (Undines): Maintain planetary humidity and water cycles.
- Fire (Agnis): Vitalize life through heat and energy, from small flames to volcanic eruptions.
- Air (Sylphs): Control atmospheric phenomena, from gentle breezes to hurricanes.
- Ether serves as the unifying substance integrating all elements.
- Devas are associated with the four elements:
- White and Black Magic:
- White Magicians invoke higher devas to align with the forces of Good and the plans of the Great White Brotherhood, focusing on spiritual evolution and harmony.
- Black Magicians exploit lower devas for selfish purposes, fostering discord and hindering planetary progress. However, their influence is limited to the lower levels of human consciousness.
- The Role of the Magician:
- Magic requires the intelligent governance of internal forces and collaboration with devas. The Magician’s degree of spiritual evolution determines their ability to work with higher or lower deva hierarchies.
- White Magicians use the “fire of space” (electricity) and the fire of Kundalini to purify their bodies and align with higher spiritual energies.
- The Central Deva Power:
- Lord Kshiti, the ruling Archangel of the physical plane, oversees all deva hierarchies and ensures the organization and sustenance of physical forms according to the planetary Logos’ designs.
In summary, Magic is a collaborative process between humans and devas, governed by the Magician’s intentions and spiritual evolution. By invoking and working with deva hierarchies, Magicians contribute to the creation, maintenance, and transformation of forms in Nature, aligning with either the forces of Good or the destructive tendencies of selfishness.
